The theme for this week is don’t worry… Jesus said to his disciples in the Gospel “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God still and trust in me.” They struggled to work out how to follow God’s call for them and have direction in their lives and had to be prepared for life when He had gone.
I look at this account pretty simply and a few things are significant.
- We will all face troubles in our lives at different times – sometimes small and sometimes really challenging.
- We are challenged to think about how we can find direction and meaning. Maybe we need to trust in God and support one another unconditionally. An African proverb says “If you want to walk fast, walk alone. If you want to walk far, walk together.”
- We are part of a community of faith – we need to offer some form of light and hope to those around us.
So as a starter for 10 watch the classic video “Don’t Worry Be Happy” by Bobby McFerrin – it looks like a low budget affair that our staff video could rival but you cannot fail to whistle or sing along or smile when others smile. Maybe take the time to sing, dance or smile sometime and life’s burdens suddenly become a little lighter.
Have a really good week and I hope half term is full of time to let your worries go and “live a little”.
